3G Mobile Phones: The Apple iPhone

 

Apple's iPhone truly stirred the hornets nest in smart phones due to its capability, design, user-friendly applications and the Apple smarts that users have come to expect.  The phone functions as a camera, including text messaging and visual voicemail, as well as a variety of other major functions like portable media player, similar to a video iPod, email and internet browsing capability, and a great multi-touch screen providing a virtual keyboard.

Apple announced the iPhone on January 9, 2007 and it was a highly anticipated announcement leading to huge sales and a transformational shift in what users expected of their phones.

The phone supports faster 3G data speeds and has assisted GPS.  In March 2009 Apple announced version 3.0 of the iPhone OS and the iPhone 3GS was announced in June 2009 with improved performance, camera with better resolution, video capability and voice control.
